OVERVIEW OF THE SCHOOL

This progressive and successful School is committed to producing graduates able to meet present and future scientific, technological, management and development challenges in South Africa.

Areas of study can be divided into three broad areas: Agriculture and Agribusiness, Community Development and Dietetics & Human Nutrition.

In the area of Agriculture, qualifications are offered in Agricultural Economics, Management and Agribusiness, Animal and Poultry Science, Commercial and Community Forestry, and in a broad range of Agricultural Plant Sciences including Crop Science, Horticultural Science, Plant Breeding and Sports Turf Management.

Under the heading of Community Development qualifications are offered in Community Resources, Food Security, and Rural Resource Systems.

In the Programme of Dietetics & Human Nutrition qualifications are offered in Dietetics and in Human Nutrition.

The Centre for Rural Development Systems is housed within this School and specialises in training graduates to communicate agricultural and ecological concepts to communities.
